London is fragmented with the  galleries, museums and historical buildings  and the British Museum is the most famous of the lot with over 5.5 million yearly tourists. British Museum, Opened in 1759, the museum could only establish itself thanks to the personal donations from the Irish physician Hans Sloane, who also lends his name to the Sloane Square.

 There are more than eight million items within the British Museum which is covering Ancient Egypt and Sudan, Greece and Rome and Prehistory and Europe.

 Must-see showcase include the Snettisham Hoard, the Rosetta stone and the Mosaic mask of Quetzalcoatl.
